Finding Peace in the City Short Film

Studies show that exposure to green spaces have a multitude of physical and mental benefits for humans. Despite these findings, humans have become accustomed to the indoor, and constantly working life, with 77% of people admitting that because of their routines, they don’t connect with nature as much as they desire to.

Visuals allow our brains to process information 60,000 times faster, while also making it easier for us to form an emotional connection and understanding, better than statistics could, hence the production of ‘ Finding Peace in the City’.

Created in 2023, ‘Finding Peace in the City,’ is a short film that uses design elementsto demonstrate to the viewers how different environments stimulate us; we aren’t meant to live our lives in cities and indoors, however, the majority of us will. Therefore, this film serves as a reminder that recconecting with nature should be viewed as a powerful tool for improving our mental health. I used glitching and ‘unnatural colours’ as a contrast between that nature shots, to represent disorders linked to lack of nature exposure, such as anxiety
