Since 2024, the UN’s interal organization has reported an estimate of 25,000 deaths and missing persons during the Mediterranean crossings.
Despite this concerning number of casualties, the media often villanises these individuals, instead of acknowledging them as victims of war desperately attempting to flee to give themselves and thier families a safer life.
This collage of animated posters tries to dismantle the stereotypes pushed by western media, and pave these indivduals in a more empathetic light, by briefly animating these horrors in which people endure when trying to migrate. Inspired by old war propaganda posters, I wanted to explore how this style might look if it were used to spread the message on the reality of war for many innocent people, instead of the glorification of it.
